During September and October, Salmon Falls Gallery hosts the exhibit Marilyn Andrews: Works in Clay. It is a retrospective exhibit and part of a memorial for the artist. Andrews died in January of 2019 after a full life of family, art, strong opinions and dedication to social justice in all sorts of forms. Another thread in her life was music. Marilyn and her husband Andrew VanAssche both played music with friends. The band Forest Avenue is comprised of those musicians. During the reception of Marilyn Andrews: Works in Clay, Andrew and Marilyn’s friends will play.

Forest Avenue is a quartet made up of Dan Frank (mandolin and hurdy gurdy), Desiree Lowit (fiddle), Eveline MacDougall (fiddle, viola, and accordion), and Andy Van Assche (guitar).  They bring their own interpretations to fiddle tunes from the British Isles, Scandinavia, and France.  Three of their recordings can be heard on bandcamp.com.

Marilyn Andrews: Works in Clay can be seen through October 31 at Salmon Falls Gallery in Shelburne Falls, MA. Our brick & mortar gallery is open 7 days a week 11am to 5pm, and our online store is open 24/7. The reception for this exhibit is Saturday, October 2, 2-4pm with music by Forest Avenue. For further information, go to SalmonFallsGallery.com or call the gallery at 413.625.9833.
