Profits from 10k Race Returned to Community
(9/30/09) The SFABA Bridge of Flowers 10k Races welcomed hundreds of runners and hundreds of spectators to downtown Shelburne Falls on August 8th. “We had a very successful race this year. In addition to funds that DialSelf Youth Program raised in their first year with us, we’re delighted to be able to pass along some of our financial success through mini-grants to local community projects,” said Mike McCusker, Race Director.
The Bridge of Flowers 10K Race Grant Program was developed over a decade ago to award funds generated by the race to programs which “seek to develop our next generation of athletes as well as strengthen our community in other ways,” said McCusker. The grant amounts range from $250 - $1000.
Community individuals and groups in Franklin County who are dedicated to these principles are invited to apply. Projects must be completed prior to 7/1/09. Previous grant recipients include the Mohawk track program, youth athletic programs, youth arts programs, and shelters for battered women.
