 Learn Ways to Minimize or Eliminate Obstacles to Productivity
 
(5/11/10) This two session workshop focuses on two major aspects of productivity in organizations: setting up the flow of work and the ability to measure results. Workshop exercises will demonstrate how the availability of information used to measure business results depends on effective work from available resources. Further group discussions and hands-on activities will emphasize the importance of coordination and communication to meet the business'/organization's mission, particularly when staffing is limited.
 
Businesses and organizations that would benefit most from this workshop:

Bring Your Business Into the Future

For the first time three local business associations will collaborate to provide workshops for their members and beyond.  A variety of workshops hosted by the Greenfield Business Association, Shelburne Falls Area Business Association and the Montague Business Association are scheduled to emphasize the importance of social media and cutting edge web technology to help promote local business.  Workshop topics will include and Overview of Social Media, Facebook, Google, Cloud, LinkedIn and Twitter.

General Information

We will have slides and demos for all presentations. Printed notes about the material covered will be available. WiFi is available at all venues, so bring your laptops and try things out during the discussions. Web links to more information will be given. All events will be from 5:30 to 7:00 PM. Attendance for Members of the Greenfield Business Association, Shelburne Falls Area Business Association, and Montague Business Association will be $10.00 Tickets for non-members, $20.00. Cash or check accpted.

Results of Salmon Falls Street Fest Survey

Members want a greater say and longer lead times to plan

(11/13/09) Thirty five people completed the on-line survey on the Salmon Falls Street Fest representing businesses equally divided by location: approximately one third from each of the Shelburne side in village, Buckland side in village and outside the village. 44% of respondents described themselves as retail or artisan gallery.  32% described themselves as professional business or “other”.

The overall message to the Board and event planners was clear – involve us more in planning events; plan well in advance; and take into account all village and business members.

FREE Sustainability Audits for SFABA Members

Consultants to work with member businesses
 
(11/12/09) Western Massachusetts Electric Company has awarded the Shelburne Falls Area Business Association a grant for $9000 to collaborate with Environmental Compliance Services (ECS) to pilot a sustainability assessment and planning service for SFABA members.  The program will evaluate business and energy practices, the cost associated with those practices and their carbon footprint in an effort to plan for and develop a sustainable business.
