Flower project to accent the beauty and nature of the region
(4/4/09) Imagine that you coming to visit Shelburne to see the Bridge of Flowers. As you look for the turnoff into the village, you are greeted at each of the three entrances with a wonderful display of magnificent gardens and flowers - - a preview of what is to come.
Upon entering the village you see numerous plantings along the sidewalks and shop fronts - - an invitation to stroll our quaint streets and visit our unique shops and eateries.
In a continued effort to help support commerce throughout these difficult economic times, area shops and businesses are invited to join the SFABA’s vision of “the whole bloomin' village! Instead of “cutting back” in this economy, join us to go “Blooming Mad”.
Plans for extensive plantings on Route 2 are well underway thanks to the efforts of the Bridge of Flowers Committee and the SFABA. As an extension of these efforts, individual shop owners are invited participate by being creative with shop’s planters, window boxes and store fronts. There is no such thing as too much! when it comes to beautiful flowers.
By combining efforts, we help the whole Village as well as the Bridge of Flowers. Many businesses have flourished in part because of the numerous visitors who come to see the Bridge of Flowers. This year as we make plans to celebrate its 80th birthday of the Bridge, the BOF Committee need everyone’s help and support.
By planting seeds for our future we can, at a relatively moderate cost, make our entire streetscape even more inviting, more beautiful. We can make Shelburne Falls a place people want to visit again and again.
The Bridge of Flowers Plant Sale is May 16 from 9:00 AM - Noon on the green between Main Street and Water Street. Rain or Shine. There will be hundreds of perennials, inexpensive annuals, fun and useful gardening items and tools, and proceeds benefit the Bridge of Flowers.
Also, Shelburne Farm & Garden is offering SFABA members a special of four 6-packs of annuals for $9.50 now until the end of May.
