From a John Updike novel to a 19th century hand-colored print

(11/27/09) The three founders of Shelburne Falls Booksellers joined forces to fill the gap left by the closing of several independent bookshops in our area.

Richard Floyd (Buy the Book) and Michael Muilenberg, both from South Deerfield, and Duane A. Stevens of Shelburne Falls opened the Shelburne Falls Booksellers on November 14, 2009.

Each bookseller displays his unique offerings in one of the store's mini-galleries. Kathleen Pew of Monroe Bridge Books in Greenfield, and Nancy Dole of Nancy Dole Books & Ephemera of Shelburne Falls also show their wares at Shelburne Falls Booksellers.

The various mini-galleries house collections which include: Americana; Natural Science books; antiquarian prints; ephemera; American and British fiction, history and biography; first editions; signed limited editions; fine press books; and small antiques.

Shelburne Falls Booksellers is committed to cultivating a welcoming, inviting, and user-friendly bookshop with comfortable seating. Located at 5 Bridge Street (rear), the shop is accessed from Deerfield Avenue. Shelburne Falls Booksellers is within easy walking distance of the Bridge of Flowers and the Glacial Pot Holes.

Hours are from 11AM to 5PM, Thursday through Sunday, with additional hours by chance or appointment. Shelburne Falls Booksellers will offer special open hours on event days such as Opera Saturdays and Moonlight Magic.
