Speech-Language Pathologist Addresses Communication Problems
(10/14/09) As a speech-language pathologist, Puckett works with children and adults to help her clients communicate better.

Kathy Puckett is a long time resident of Shelburne Falls. She worked as an artist and raised her children here. She attended GCC's Pathways to Health Careers certificate program, and finished her undergraduate work at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Communication Disorders in 1995. She attended the University of Arizona in Tucson, graduating with a Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology in 1998. While in Tucson, she coordinated communication groups for stroke patients.
Since returning to Shelburne Falls, Kathy has been in private practice. She has worked for various local school districts and agencies, including Mohawk Trail Regional Schools, Frontier Regional Schools, North Adams Public Schools, Franklin County Technical School, and the Association for Community Living. Her clients include adults and children with a variety of communication problems. She treats private clients in her home office. Kathy has done extensive work with augmentative technology. A specialty is facilitating social language groups, which has proven to be an effective treatment for people with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Her background as an artist enables Kathy to develop unique, creative approaches for her clients and groups.
Kathy is available to work with clients of any age, both individually and in groups. She is a Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Massachusetts Provider. Kathy is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), is an ASHA-certified professional, and a certified teacher and licensed Speech-Language Pathologist in the State of Massachusetts.
