Conway Potter Combines Art With Relaxation

(5/14/09) “Megan Hart's newly-opened Little Farm Guesthouse in Conway has a special spin--- the spin of the professional potter's wheel.

photo_meganhart.JPGA West County resident since 1991, Megan is a graduate of the Massachusetts College of Art and has a 30-year career creating beautiful and functional pottery, teaching others at her home studio and regularly participating in regional pottery shows. Her newest business enterprise and addition to her 5-acre property on a green and open Conway hillside is the 1-bedroom Guesthouse, complete with cozy kitchen, sitting room and private bath, perfect for those visiting the area for a weekend or more.

Not only an ideal base from which to enjoy the areas many rejuvenating cultural and recreational pastimes--- a stay at the Little Farm Guesthouse also offers guests the unusual creative opportunity to experience the art and craft of pottery-making through the classes and workshops offered at the adjacent Hart Pottery Studio. Visitors can learn to throw their first-ever pot or reacquaint themselves with zen of working with clay, as well as see Megan's current works-in-progress in both elegant porcelain and richly tactile stoneware.

The tucked-away hillside setting of 5-acre Little Farm is a peaceful rural spot overlooking historic Pumpkin Hollow; local horses pasture in the back field and forest-edged views and a huge arch of sky greet guests. Along with a great night's rest in the deeply comfortable queen bedstead, draped in downy piles of white comforters, guests are provided with a kitchen well-stocked with the best of fresh and local ingredients to allow them to prepare breakfast at their leisure. Coffee, tea, jams, bread and eggs from Megan's free-ranging hens fill the create-it-yourself morning menu, a delicious and nourishing start to a day of clay or any of the other rich visitor offerings.

Stays at the Guesthouse are at the rate of $150 a night for weekend visitors, rates for longer stays are quoted upon request. Pottery Workshops and classes are on-going.
